Easy Sweet & Sour Chili Sauce
This sweet and sour chili sauce is perfectO for any fried food like crispy pork belly, lumpia, and dumplings. Aside from being easy to make, it will give your taste buds a satisfying kick. This is most popular in Asian countries. Mostly what I see are recipes from Vietnamese, and here is mine.
Ingredients:
2 cloves of garlic (minced)
1 red onion (minced)
1 red bell pepper (minced)
1 tbsp of oil
1 tbsp of chili flakes
1 tbsp of honey
2 1/2 tbsp of white sugar
1/4 cup of tomato catsup
1 tsp of soy sauce
1 cup of water
1 tsp ground black pepper
cornstarch
Instruction:
- Minced all main ingredients: 2 cloves of garlic, 1 red onion, and 1 red bell pepper.
- In a saucepan, sauté minced garlic, red onion, red bell pepper, and chili flakes.
- Add 1 cup of water. Then add the sugar, ground black pepper, soy sauce, and honey and mix well. Honey will enhance the flavor and scent of sweetness.
- Add a little amount of cold water and cornstarch to a separate small bowl, stir, and then gradually add to the sauce until it thickens. Then transfer to the sauce bowl and serve! Enjoy! :)
