Enoki Beef Rolls
Sharing this delicious Japanese recipe. With just five main ingredients and less than 30 minutes, you will make a perfect and delicious Japanese appetizer.
Japanese Dishes are one of my favorite Asian cuisines. Aside from sushi and tempura, this is also my favorite flavorful beef recipe. The tender and juiciness of beef with chewy mushrooms are perfecto to partner over a bowl of rice. The dish not only looks gorgeous but also has a rewarding flavor.
Main Ingredients:
Half kilo Beef - Thinly sliced plate beef. Alternative, sirloin or brisket.
150g Enoki Mushroom
Two pieces of egg
1 tbsp Mirin
1 tbsp Sake
Additional Ingredients:
3 Pcs of White Onion
1/2 Cup Cold Water
Pinch of Black pepper
1 tbsp. Brown Sugar or Honey
1/4 cup soy sauce
Sesame Seeds
Scallion for garnish
Cooking Oil
Instruction:
Cut off the bottom root section of the Enoki Mushroom, and rinse with water to remove dirt.
Place smaller bunches of enoki mushrooms, wrap it with a thinly sliced Plate of beef and set aside.
I choose a Plate part of beef, as they have a small amount of fat that enhances the flavor since I don't want my beef to look dry. But of course, the best choice is yours. You can try sirloin or brisket with less fat.
Prepare a sauce:
In a bowl combine all together the 1 Cup Cold Water, 1 tbsp. Brown Sugar or Honey, 1/4 cup soy sauce, Pinch of Black pepper, 1 tbsp Mirin, and 1 tbsp Sake alternative white wine.
COOK:
In a pan, heat the 2 tsp of cooking oil over medium heat. Sauté the white chop onions until softened. Then, add the prepared enoki beef rolls over the onions. Close the lid to steamer the natural juice of the beef. Once the beef is slightly cooked, pour the prepared sauce over the beef rolls, close the lid, and simmer for about 5 minutes until the mushrooms have softened and the beef is perfectly cooked. Lastly, whisk 2 eggs in a small bowl and pour the scrambled on top of the enoki beef rolls. Do not mix, just place back the lid and allow the egg to slightly set for an additional 1 minute. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions and there you have it! Easy right? Enjoy!
